Getting Around, Tianjin Travel and Tianjin Transport

The Chinese city of Tianjin is reached easily by international visitors via the busy and efficient Tianjin Binhai International Airport, an important local transport hub and gateway to the region. Those visitors already in China and wishing to reach the city of Tianjin by alternative means will find that trains and buses regularly travel from most neighbouring cities and provinces.
Car hire and taxis provide an expensive, but convenient means of travelling around once you are in the city. Below are Tianjin's main modes of public transport.
Tianjin Travel and Transport: Tianjin Binhai International Airport (TSN) / Arriving by Air - Tianjin, China, CN
Lying some 13 km / 8 miles from Tianjin city centre, in Zhanggui Zhuang and the Dongli district, Tianjin Binhai International Airport (TSN) is northern China's second-largest air facility, after Beijing's Capital International Airport (PEK). The airport currently facilitates the services of around 40 domestic and international airlines, with connections to destinations such as Shenzhenm, Shanghai, Xian, Wuhan, Seoul and Bangkok.
A shuttle bus service provides transportation between Tianjin Binhai Airport and the city, and to Beijing Capital Airport also. Taxi transport is also available outside the airport and car hire companies can be found within the terminal building itself.

Tianjin is within easy driving distance of a number of places of interest including Beijing, and visitors opting to rent a vehicle during their stay will find their travel options opened up significantly with regards to daytrips or weekend excursions. Local drivers have a tendency to be somewhat erratic and so extreme caution is advised when taking to the highways. As only those with a Chinese license are permitted to drive here, most visitors choose to hire a specific transport package that includes a driver.

There are a number of bus stations within the city, the most significant of which is the Tianhuan Bus Station in the Nankai district. This bus station provides long-distance transport to provinces such as Hebei, Shanxi, Inner Mongolia and Jiangxi. Tianjin's neighbouring cities are served by its other bus stations.

The city is served by four train stations in total - Tianjin Central Train Station, Tianjin North Train Station, Tianjin South Train Station and also Tianjin West Train Station. The central station is by far the biggest and maintains connections with over 40 Chinese cities, with regular trains providing a fast way to travel to Beijing, Guangzhou, Shanghai and Xian, amongst other locations.

There are three levels of taxi transport operating within Tianjin and all provide a particularly convenient way to travel, with prices being dictated by the model of the cab. The three makes of taxi available in the city are Dafa, Xiali and Santana, with Dafa boasting the cheapest fares, Xiali featuring intermediate prices and Santana offering the most expensive fares.
